Friday the 13th, 2009:

Thursday was a pretty good day, actually. At work I got to work the Madoff A1 story:

After guilty plea,
Madoff goes
Directly to jail

Also my old high school friend/fiend Brian J. McCracken tracked me down via Linked-In, the best thing that program has turned up for me so far.

Then at home the most amazing Daily Show ran the takedown of Jim Cramer by Jon Stewart, a piece of TV history that flags the end of the era of corporate excess. CNBC's nutty commentator is exposed as a weasel AND an idiot.

Then after struggling through computer work until 11:30, Carole came and sat down on the couch next to me, snuggle wise, and we watched Colbert and share the last of a box of Breyer's neopolitan ice cream.

After she went to bed I signed on Wonkette to see how the chatter was going and posted my take.

Then off to dreamland.

Today I came to work early after catching the bus directly after getting a bunch of DVDs and a Bob Dylan book. Whole Foods was having a hot-dog sale for charity. For $5 a big dog, bun, mustard, kraut, natch chips and apple seltzer. I forgot the seltzer there but I took the box up the hill and went to what passes for a lunch room at the Times, down in the basement. After the delicious repast I ventured into the men's room down the way to wash my hands. This is the one that has showers and lockers. I peeked into the shower room and lo and behold there was a free locker. I ran up to the showerless locker room upstairs, twirled my Master lock five times until it finally responded, grabbed the two shirts inside and ran back down to lock it up second to the bottom near the shower.

After nearly 19 years at the Times, I finally (as the newspaper age darkens and is dying off like the dinosaurs), I finally have a shower locker. Now there is no excuse to exercise here. Hooray.
