Austin a long ways off

So the plan is to go to Austin in October instead of following Highway 6 to it's Cape Cod conclusion. My Cape connection has shuffled off this mortal coil. Since I love live music but hate crowds, SXSW is not for me. Since October is after Hur-cane season and Hill Country is so beautiful then and the freaking students have calmed down somewhat, that's our plan. Sunnyvale to Reno, to Delta, UT, to Salida, CO, to Amarillo, Dallas and Austin. Five days on Sixth Street!
Then Pecos, Gallup, Henderson and Home, baby. It's all coming into focus.
